I’ve been having a great time this summer meeting people out in the sun at community events. I’m grateful for all the conversations, especially to all those who stopped by my Open House on June 30 on their way to Golden Spike Days.
The feedback I’ve had has been both informative and useful.
Today, we start year two. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished in the first 12 months as government. And while I’m not back in Victoria until September, I’m working everyday to improve life here.
There’s still a lot of work to do to build a better BC.
Our government is working to build a diverse and sustainable economy. Last week, I had the pleasure to launch our province’s Emerging Economy Task Force alongside Jobs, Trade and Technology Minister Bruce Ralston and Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver. We need to keep BC industries ahead of the technological curve.
To do that we’re tapping some of BC’s brightest minds. We’re doing it by working across party lines because good ideas are something we can all contribute.
Next week, I’m heading to Spokane for meetings at the Pacific Northwest Economic Region conference. We have so many common interests with our economic partners south of the border. Building these bridges (or rail connections!) is important to developing an economy that benefits us all.
On July 31, I’m hosting a meet and greet seniors lunch with the Port Moody Seniors Friendship Society. It’s a chance for local seniors to meet with MLA Anne Kang, the Parliamentary Secretary for Seniors. Please join us and bring your questions or suggestions!
